This mythical Sea Serpent door knocker has, over the centuries, been depicted in many forms. He has a poseidon fork design tail, and it is thought that the creature depicted, power and mastery of the seas.
Foundry cast from an authentic victorian pattern, this very unusual brass Door Knocker would be perfectly at home on the door of a cottage, townhouse or modern home and especially somewhere within smelling distance of the sea!
This enchanting door knocker is hinged at the bottom of the stalk of his tail and strikes against a brass plate that is screwed to the door from the front, so no fixings show inside the door. Screws supplied.
Sizes: Overall 160mm (6 1/4″) high x 40mm (1 1/2″) wide x 70mm (2 3/4″) projection.
Base plate and striking plate 43mm (1 3/4″) wide.
Distance between fixing point approximately 75mm (3″)
Solid cast brass, unlacquered. Boxed weight 800g
